Artist Biography:

Jackie Berridge lives and works in Southwell, Nottinghamshire. She graduated from Nottingham Trent University in the 1990s, specialising in abstract painting and drawing. In 2004 she embarked on an MA in Children’s book illustration and her work became more figurative. She set up and managed Harrington Mill Studios and gallery (2007 – 2018) curating, organising shows and exchanges in Athens, Stockholm, Chicago and Seoul.

Jackie continues to develop her practice and in 2019 she participated in two very different but rewarding residences in Baroda, India and Winchester College where she also had a solo show. She was selected for the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize and Exceptional at the Bristol Collyer Gallery, London.

Art Practice:

Jackie Berridge’s work focuses on people in domestic settings, representing a world of interior and exterior; a place to dream, a sanctuary or alternatively a place of captivity and imprisonment. Whilst occupants live cheek by jowl they also remain solitary and independent of each other. Colour, pattern and visual clues provide insights into character whilst the expression of individuals remains passive – allowing for personal interpretation.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
