Bright yellow=happiness
Sunday May 24th
Been working on my exhibition piece for the last two weeks. This morning I did a trial film with my partner as stand-in. I have a few problems to solve. Clothing for one, with my gut reaction saying bright yellow. I was thinking about canaries in cages and down mines to test oxygen levels. I think I am starved of art oxygen. Off in my mask and gloves to the supermarket. By the time I had queued to get in, I had forgotten my reasoning and returned with two, blue and green t-shirts. . Reassessed my reasoning and decided it had to be yellow. Back to a different shop this morning and 42nd in queue, no yellow shirts, somewhere else and, yes, there was the brightest yellow, sunshine, canaries, happiness coloured.
Back to all the other decisions to be made. As usual, I have a limited amount to the materials that I need, due to location and budget, so it has to be right first time. I realise I am not ready to discuss the thing in detail yet. It feels a little ambiguous but it will come. In the meantime, I am playing with materials, drawing and writing and, of course, doing admin. for Hatchery.
